This issues is going to be short. But hopefully it will be serving as an even more concrete way of helping crack the job hunting process.

Why do we need an ‘Operating System’ for Job Search?

In the course of my career, I have experienced first hand how difficult finding a job was, mainly for these reasons:

  1. No one teaches you how to do it - it’s all testing and learning (the hard way)

  2. There are no tools available - it’s messy to handle a job search, especially if you need to do a lot of applications. Good luck using Linkedin or anything else; those companies have plenty of tools and tricks for businesses trying to hire, but almost nothing for candidates

  3. It's about soft skills - a lot of the process is about human relationships and communication. These are very hard, but can be understood and influenced if you approach it in the right way.

That’s why I decided to build a Notion Template you can duplicate and use to learn about things like:

  • 🎯 Finding your Objectives - key to performing well is knowing what you want, and what yo don’t want - right away

  • 🖲 Habit Tracker - some things you will need to start building a habit for; good way to track progress

  • 🎽 Job Application Tracker - see all your ongoing applications and track important information, deadlines

  • 🎀 CV Optimization - beat the applicant tracking systems, improve your CV

  • ✋Interview Questions preparation - list of most common questions, and how to tackle them

  • ✍️ Portfolio Builder - core module; show your experience and expertise through case studies and have a place to store them over time

  • 🔬Company Research - what info do you need to research before applying?

  • and many, many more

I’ve put in more than a hundred hours to do this over the course of a year, trying to cram in learnings from thousands of interviews both as a candidate and as a hiring manager in the course of my 13+ year professional career.

That said, it will be a work in progress and I would love to have any feedback, so please drop me a line or leave a comment with any bugs or things you would like to see in the next versions!
